Germany is implementing the Twinning project “Strengthening the capacity of Jordan‘s Department of Statistics in terms of compilation, analysis and reporting of statistical data in line with International and European best practices”, together with Denmark as Lead Member State, and Italy and Lithuania as further Junior Member States. The project implementation started in September 2022.

Within its 24 months duration, the project aims to strengthen the capacities of the Department of Statistics (DoS) of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The project’s focus lies on increasing the DoS’ capacities in terms of compilation, analysis, and reporting of statistical data by improving staff skills and enhancing more efficient processes and structures. Germany’s main contribution consists in supporting the creation of a Statistical Business Register (SBR).

As a result of the project, the DoS will be able to generate international comparable statistical practice and output in line with international and European best practices. Moreover, the availability of high-quality statistics will facilitate increased knowledge about economic, demographic, and social development in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to assist evidence-based decisions.

The project constitutes a cooperation between civil servants from the beneficiary administration, the DoS, and the EU Member States consortium represented by Statistics Denmark, the German Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the Italian National Institute of Statistics (Istat) and Statistics Lithuania.

The German Member State Partner is supported by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in all administrative and financial matters of this project.
